Guavas are excellent sources of vitamin C, which like most antioxidants in fruits, leads to many health benefits. Amongst the many such advantages, disease to organs and tissue such as the eyes, heart and arteries is rendered preventable. This vital vitamin also protects and lessens the effects of colds and coughs as well as prevents heart disease and scurvy.

This amazing fruit also has the benefits of improving your beauty, which is betterment of the skin. It is an excellent source of astringents and benefits the skin because it is a good source of vitamins A, B, C and the mineral potassium. These ingredients, especially from unripe guavas, keep the skin shining, clean and free of wrinkles.

The astringents in guava give them an advantage of getting rid of bacterial infections as well. Astringents are alkaline in nature, and this makes them powerful fighters against bacteria. This help guavas fight against diarrhea and dysentery as well.

To top this, the fruit is a great source of lycopene, a carotenoid that has the health benefit of preventing cancer. HarvardUniversity researchers conducting a study of 48,000 men found that those who had the most lycopene added to their diets had a 45% lower risk of developing prostate cancer than those who did not choose to do so.

Guava contains a high amount of estimated 9 grams of fiber per cup. As a result, it has the health benefit of cleaning out the intestine, aiding in digestion and lessening the risk of developing colon cancer. This rich source of fiber also means that it has the health benefit of lowering cholesterol and blood pressure. Guava helps to lower the bad cholesterol in the blood, while increasing good cholesterol, lipoprotein. As a result, this lowers blood pressure.
